Miscellaneous Missives from the Land of Whatnot

Howdy-hi there, friends and neighbors!

Hope you had a swell lil' Valentine's Day, if you means anything to you at all other than another national Hallmark holiday. In the words of the wise old sage, Ali Macgraw, "Love means never having to say you're sorry." Then again, it didn't really work out for her in the end, did it? Sorry.

Here are a few things on my increasingly feeble mind:

"Ward, I'm worried about the Bieber."
Congratulations to jazz artist Esperanza Spalding, who hails from my own beloved Portland, Oregon, for winning the Grammy the other night for Best New Artist. Actually, i have no idea who she is other than the fact that she whooped the baby ass of one Justin Bieber! In your face, punk! Now we know what's under those adorable bangs of yours: a big L on your acne ridden forehead! Loser! This actually means nothing to me at all. I guess I'm just irritated that this twerp's career has gone beyond the first year. Yeah, I'm about as mature as the next guy....

...and the nest guy is Billy Ray Cyrus, who blames the success of HANNAH MONTANA for the destruction of his family. Way to take responsibility for yourself, BRC, you achy-breaky bumpkin. Hey, Kate Gosselin's single now too, Billy. she's lookin' for a new man...and reality show.

THE SOCIAL NETWORK looks like the picture to beat at this year's Oscars and, after finally watching it (twice!) over the weekend , for damn good reason. It IS that good. David Fincher and Aaron Sorkin will definitely take home prizes for the one two punch of masterful direction coupled with the kind of writing Paddy Chayefsky used to give us. (If you don't know who that is, look it up. NOW.) It's just a shame Andrew Garfield isn't up for supporting actor. Maybe he can hang out with fellow non-nominee Matt Damon. Or at least become Facebook friends.

And finally....(drum roll, please. NOW.)

My good friend Tom Amo's latest novel AN APPLE FOR ZOE (THE FORSAKEN) has just been released on Kindle. Set in San Francisco, this thriller is the first part of a proposed trilogy about the investigation series of occult murders that span over the course of 90 years. And the Kindle price...a ridiculously low $2.99. Is he out of his mind? Check it out NOW, funk soul brothers (and sisters) Paperback edition coming soon.

Excelsior!
